Legacy Rockwell Upgrade Project

Industry : Melbourne Water
Project Scope : Automation
Partner : Rockwell Automation
Dedicated Team : 5 Engineers

Project Highlights

Assessed, reviewed, and documented the existing legacy control architecture to identify obsolescence risks and upgrade requirements. Developed a detailed migration strategy from SLC and PLC-5 platforms to Rockwell ControlLogix, ensuring compatibility with existing field devices and network infrastructure. Engineered and configured new ControlLogix-based PLC systems, including I/O mapping, logic optimization, and network configuration. Conducted Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), site commissioning, and cutover planning with minimal downtime. Coordinated closely with operations, maintenance, and OEM vendors to manage shutdowns, system switchover, and revalidation activities. Prepared and delivered complete commissioning, validation, and as-built documentation in accordance with Melbourne Water and Veolia engineering standards.

Outcomes

Successfully reduced unplanned outages, improved system reliability, and established a scalable control platform for future automation upgrades.
